Description:

Due to the running of the Half Marathon and the 10k races in Sunderland, linked with the associated road closures that are required services in the area will be revised until mid-afternoon on Sunday 12th May 2019. The revised timetables and journeys are as follows:

Service 3 - From first bus (08:35) until approx. 16:15 - will operate normal route from Hylton Castle to Southwick, then via Southwick Road as far east as Queens Road Link, before travelling non-stop via Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, St.Michael’s Way, Albion Place, Green Terrace northbound, St. Michael’s Way, then its normal route towards Farringdon.  From first bus (08:35) until approx. 16:15, Service 3 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road to the east of Queens Road, the Wheatsheaf, John Street, Fawcett Street, Holmeside or Vine Place in either direction.  Service 3 will resume normal service at 16:05 from Hylton Castle and 16:07 from Farringdon.

Service 4 – From first bus (08:08) until approx. 16:30 - will operate normal route from Downhill to Southwick, then via Southwick Road, before travelling non-stop via Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, St.Michael’s Way, Albion Place, Green Terrace northbound, St. Michael’s Way, then its normal route towards Doxford Park.  Between 08:08 and 16:26, Service 4 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops at Southwick Road to the east of Queens Road, the Wheatsheaf, John Street, Fawcett Street, Holmeside or Vine Place in either direction.  Service 4 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 16:26 from Downhill and 16:17 from Doxford Park

Service 10/11 - From first bus (09:18) until approx. 13:45 - will not be able to serve Hendon, Grangetown or Hillview.  Until then, buses will operate from Quarry View via normal route as far as St.Michaels Way, then via Albion Place to Green Terrace northbound, at which point they will terminate. Buses towards Quarry View will commence from Green Terrace. During affected times, buses will not be able to serve Holmeside, Vine Place, Borough Road or the Hendon, Grangetown or Hill View areas.  Service 10 should be able to resume normal journeys commencing with the 13:28 service from Pennywell and 13:43 service from Grangetown.  Service 11 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 13:45 bus from Pennywell and the 14:05 bus from Grangetown.

Service 13 - From first bus (08:35) until approx. 16:15 - will operate normal route from Town End Farm as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, St.Michael’s Way, Albion Place, Green Terrace northbound, St. Michael’s Way before re-joining the normal route.  From approx. 08:35 until approx. 16:15, Service 13 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road, the Wheatsheaf, John Street, Fawcett Street, Holmeside or Vine Place in either direction.  Service 13 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 16:14 journey from Town End Farm and 15:46 bus from Doxford Park.

Service 16 - From first bus (08:07) until approx. 16:30 - will operate normal route from Red House as far as Southwick, then via Southwick Road non-stop via Queens Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, Silksworth Row, St.Michael’s Way, Albion Place, Green Terrace northbound, St. Michael’s Way before re-joining the normal route.  From approx. 08:07 until approx. 16:30, Service 16 will not be able to serve the normal bus stops on Southwick Road, the Wheatsheaf, John Street, Fawcett Street, Holmeside or Vine Place in either direction.  Service 16 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 16:30 journey from Red House and 16:06 bus from Hastings Hill.

Service 20 - From approx. 08:26 until approx. 13:25 - buses will terminate on Green Terrace northbound. Between approx. 08:26 and approx. 13:25, Service 20 will not serve Fawcett Street, Burdon Road or Holmeside.   Service 20 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 13:27 from Pennywell and the 13:26 journey from Fawcett Street.

Service 23 - From first bus (08:05) until approx. 17:35 - buses will only run between Thorney Close and City Centre.  Buses towards Thorney Close will commence from Green Terrace (northbound stop).  Until 17:08, Service 23 will not be able to serve Holmeside, Vine Place, John Street, Fawcett Street, Athenaeum Street, Dene Estate, Fulwell, Roker or Wheatsheaf areas.  Diverted Service E1, E2, E6 provides a partial alternative.   Service 23 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 17:08 from Thorney Close and the 17:36 from Dene Estate.

Services E1, E2 and E6 - From first bus (07:45) until approx. 16:30 - buses will divert as follows:

Service E1 - will operate via normal route to Fulwell Blue Bell, then divert via Station Road, Charlton Road then non-stop to Green Terrace (northbound stop) via Thompson Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, St Michael’s Way and Albion Place.  Services to South Shields will operate the same journey in reverse.  Service E1 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 16:14 from South Shields and 16:24 from Sunderland Fawcett Street.

Service E2 - will operate via normal route to the Wheatsheaf junction, then divert non-stop to Green Terrace (northbound stop) via Southwick Road, Stoney Lane, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, St Michaels Way and Albion Place.  Services to South Shields will operate the same journey in reverse.  Service E2 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 16:33 from South Shields and 16:33 from Sunderland Fawcett Street.

Service E6 - will operate via normal route to Fulwell Blue Bell, then divert via Station Road, Charlton Road then non-stop to Green Terrace (northbound stop) via Thompson Road, Queen Alexandra Bridge, Pallion New Road, Trimdon Street, St Michael’s Way and Albion Place.  Services to South Shields will operate the same journey in reverse.  Service E6 should be able to resume normal service commencing with the 16:24 from South Shields and 16:42 from Sunderland Fawcett Street.
