Eurostar Heads To York

Although we don't include York as one of our areas, as it's not in the North East, we thought this might be of interest following our new Eurostar pages launched at the weekend.

Eurostar is preparing to launch their new fleet of trains, scheduled to enter service later this year, so have donated one of its first generation trains will join other icons of railway history in the Great Hall of the National Railway Museum in York.

It has taken its well deserved place in the locomotive hall of fame and will now become a permanent fixture.

The Eurostar Class 373 trains were designed to transport passengers between London, Paris and Brussels via the Channel Tunnel, and started operating on 14 November 1994. Since then Eurostar has revolutionised travel between the UK and mainland Europe, carrying a total of over 150 million passengers, with numbers growing to over 10 million a year.
