Woman Dies After Being Hit By Northern Rail Train
The Sunderland Echo reports that a woman has died after being hit by a train between Newcastle and Sunderland on Sunday.
Police & paramedics were called to an incident of a woman being hit by a train just before 1900 on Sunday 20th September 2015, the woman was pronounced dead and has not yet been identified.
British Transport Police said they are not treating it as suspicious.
The incident caused disruption to Northern Rail mainline services along the Middlesbrough to Newcastle/Carlisle line, the operator reports that the 1850 Metrocentre to Middlesbrough had to terminate at Newcastle and the 2000 Newcastle to Middlesbrough train was cancelled due to emergancy services activity.
Metro services only suffered minor delays.
