easyJet Drops Cabin Baggage Guarantee

easyJet has ended a guarantee that passengers will be able to hold onto their hand luggage throughout their flight.

Until now, the airline has guaranteed that as long as the dimensions didn't exceed 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, passengers could carry their hand luggage onboard the aircraft.

Under the new policy, standard easyJet passengers are allowed to bring one item of hand luggage upto the same size however on busy flights this may have to go into the hold.

Passengers who pay extra for seats can take an additional bag measuring upto 45cm x 36cm x 20cm.

Standard fare passengers carrying hand luggage exceeding this limit will be charged £30 at the bag drop or £45 if its at the gate.

The change follows British Airways who decreased the size of the second carry-on for their passengers to 40cm x 30cm x 15cm, but their main hand luggage allowance stays the same at 56cm x 45cm x 25cm.
