Changes At Stagecoach In Newcastle

***TAKEN FROM STAGECOACH OFFICIAL WEBSITE***

From Sunday 20th March 2016, a number of services in the Newcastle area will be revised.

These changes will help to further improve reliability, and will provide some handy new links for customers.

To download your new timetable, please click on the relevant link below.

Service 8: To further improve reliability, the Monday to Friday trip at 0632 from Freeman Hospital to Central Station will be revised to run up to 10 minutes earlier.

Services 15 and 15A: Over recent times, we’ve noticed these services are not running quite as reliably as we’d all like. To assist punctuality, and to improve connections, we’re changing the route of these services in the city centre area, which will affect bus stops as follows: Buses towards Byker and Walker will be revised to stop on Blackett Street and Market Street East instead of Newgate Street, Market Street or Pilgrim Street. Buses towards RVI and Kenton will stop on Market Street (east), Pilgrim Street and Blackett Street, rather than Market Street (Theatre Royal), Grainger Street or Newgate Street. Although a few journeys are slightly retimed, overall frequencies remain unchanged, with journeys running up to every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes.

Services 32 and 32A: To help further improve punctuality and reliability, and to improve customer access in the city centre, we’re changing the route of these services, affecting stops as follows: Service 32 buses towards RVI will be revised to stop on Pilgrim Street and Blackett Street, rather than on Market Street, Grainger Street or Newgate Street. Service 32A buses arriving in the city centre from RVI will stop on Blackett Street and Market Street East instead of Newgate Street or Market Street. Service 32/32A will also no longer be operationally linked with Service 35. To better reflect the increasing levels of traffic congestion which are being encountered, most Service 32 trips will run up to 7 minutes later, and most Service 32A trips will run up to 10 minutes earlier. Please see timetable for full details of these changes. Although a small number of early morning and late afternoon journeys paid for by Nexus will be withdrawn, the overall frequency of buses remains unchanged, with journeys running up to every 30 minutes. Evening and Sunday buses operated by other bus companies will also follow this new route in the city centre area.

Service 35:  To further improve reliability for customers, Service 35 will no longer be ‘linked’ with Services 32/32A. Therefore, any customers who may be intending to travel across the city centre will need to change buses in the Market Street/ Pilgrim Street area. Whilst the times of most Service 35 trips will remain unchanged, the 1710 and 1815 departures from Pilgrim Street will be revised to operate 5 minutes later.

Services 62 and 63: To help further improve timekeeping, we are making some changes to westbound Monday to Friday morning buses from Killingworth. Those trips which are arriving in Newcastle City Centre before 0815 will run up to 6 minutes earlier between Killingworth and the city centre, and this will then help the punctuality of the next journeys operated by these buses too. As the major highways works at Cowgate start to draw to a conclusion, journey times for customers should also start to reduce, especially during peak periods. We are grateful for customer’s patience whilst these works by Newcastle City Council are completed. Following recent customer requests, an additional Service 63 journey will operate on Saturday mornings at 0731 from Chapel House, arriving in the City Centre at 0754.

Services 71, 72, 87 and 88: Working in partnership with Nexus, evening and Sunday journeys on Service 71 are extended every 30 minutes to additionally serve Walbottle Village, Newburn and Throckley. These extra trips will replace another operator’s service 71A, which is withdrawn. To improve the overall reliability of the services along Stamfordham Road, and to reflect increasing levels of traffic congestion, most morning journeys on Services 71, 72, 87 and 88 will be revised to run up to 10 minutes earlier, and late afternoon trips will be amended to run up to 10 minutes later. Although a small number of early morning and late afternoon trips will be withdrawn as a consequence, the overall frequency of buses will remain unchanged, with services combining to run up to every 10 minutes between Westerhope and the City Centre.

All other Stagecoach in Newcastle bus services continue unchanged.
