Arriva Service 185 Withdrawn

***PRESS RELEASE FROM ARRIVAS WEBSITE***

We regret that Arriva North East service 185 between Haltwhistle, Greenhead Village, Gilsland, Low Row, Brampton and Carlisle will be withdrawn from Sunday 22nd May 2016. Buses will therefore run for the last time on Saturday 21st May 2016. We introduced the 185 in August 2014 following the decision by Cumbria County Council to withdraw funding for the previous service operated by Telford’s Coaches. We did this as an experiment to see if there was enough demand to sustain a limited service without any financial support from the Council. Unfortunately, after running the buses for nearly two years, there are still not enough people using them to make the service viable. Customers travelling between Haltwhistle, Greenhead, Brampton and Carlisle can still use service 685, which runs up to hourly on Monday to Saturday daytimes and every two hours on Sundays. Customers travelling between Gilsland, Greenhead and Haltwhistle can travel on the Go North East 185, which runs three times on Mondays to Saturdays. We also understand that Cumbria County Council is working with a local Community Transport Group to try to re-instate some links with Carlisle. The decision to withdraw service 185 was not taken lightly, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
