Arriva Make Changes To Durham Routes
Arriva North East are making changes to routes 6, X24 and X46 in Durham from Sunday 26th March 2017.
are making some changes to services 6 and X46 in County Durham from Sunday 26th March 2017 to improve punctuality and better match capacity with demand.
Service 6: Most Monday to Friday morning and afternoon commuter buses will run at slightly different times to improve punctuality. Some journeys between Durham city centre and Framwellgate Moor will be withdrawn due to low usage. Following customers’ requests, the Saturday journey at 0647 from Bishop Auckland to Durham will run 30 minutes earlier, providing an arrival in the city centre before 0700. Arriva are also improving the Saturday afternoon timetable, with more buses from Durham to Spennymoor, Bishop Auckland and West Auckland between 1700 and 1800.
Service X24: This service to/from intu Metrocentre is withdrawn. Over the last few years, Arriva have found a huge decrease in passenger numbers and say the service is no longer viable to operate.
Service X46: In summer 2015, Arriva North East extended some Monday to Saturday daytime journeys from Crook to Low Mown Meadows, Stanley Crook and Tow Law, providing an hourly link from these places to Durham. Unfortunately, passenger numbers have not grown as much as expected and most of the journeys that we introduced in 2015 will be withdrawn. However, the Monday to Friday commuter buses that start/finish at Low Mown Meadows and Stanhope will continue to run. The times between Durham and Crook are mostly unchanged. However, following customers’ requests, the Monday to Friday bus at 1635 from Durham to Crook will start from Framwellgate Moor at 1619 and run five minutes earlier throughout. As a result, the journey at 1704 from Framwellgate Moor to Stanhope will start from Durham Bus Station at 1715.
