Goodbye VTEC & Welcome LNER

London North Eastern Railway, known simply as LNER, is the new operator of the East Coast Mainline from Sunday 24th June 2018.

The current operator, Virgin Trains East Coast, will cease to exist from 00:01 on 24th June 2018 and the new operator will take over from the same time.

LNER is owned by the Department for Transport and is taking over the route after the franchise for the line failed for the 2nd time and Virgin Trains East Coast hand back the keys for the franchise.

LNER branding has begun popping up at stations, on board trains and platform screens in preparation for the switch over this weekend.

This DOES NOT affect any passenger services, tickets or timetables and everything will stay exactly the same. If you have a booking, this DOES NOT affect it and passengers will not notice any change from day 1, the only thing you'll see is the Virgin logo go and the new LNER logo appear its really that simple.

We are very sad to say goodbye to Virgin in the North East but welcome LNER to our area.
