Exciting Changes To Transpennine Services In December Timetable Shakeup
This weekend see's the start of the Winter 2019/2020 railway timetable, where train operators across the UK amend their timetables & networks.
The shakeup will bring some exciting changes for Transpennine Express, including some across the North East.
Trains on the Middlesbrough routes will continue to and start from Redcar Central, creating greater direct journey opportunities for passengers of the Tees Valley. Direct trains from Redcar Central to York, Leeds, Huddersfield & Manchester will remove the need to change trains in Middlesbrough and will run roughly every hour each day.
Additionally, most Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle services will be extended to run to / from Edinburgh calling at Morpeth offering new direct journey opportunities to / from West Yorkshire. In addition, Transpennine Express will now provide the first journey opportunity between Newcastle and Edinburgh departing at 0553 (Monday to Saturday) and also a later journey than currently offered between Edinburgh and Newcastle departing at 2214 (Monday to Friday) providing an opportunity for a longer day in Edinburgh for business or leisure.
Calls at Dewsbury will now be in the Newcastle and Middlesbrough to Manchester Airport services as well as the local stopping service between Leeds and Huddersfield.
An additional late-night service will run Monday to Saturday from Newcastle departing at 00:08 (early hours of each morning Monday to Saturday) to Manchester Airport calling at Durham, Darlington, York, Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester Piccadilly.
Services between Newcastle, Durham, and Darlington to Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester will be operated by 5 carriage trains instead of the current 3 carriage ones and during the timetable, which runs until May 2020, 32 brand-new 5 carriage trains will be introduced bringing with it a large increase in the number of seats available on each service.
