Changes At Arriva In Teesside & East Cleveland

Arriva North East are making changes to some services in Teesside & East Cleveland from Sunday 17th February 2019, following detailed analysis of the network and feedback from customers.

Service 5/5A/X5: There will be a full route and timetable revision on this service, primarily aimed at improving punctuality of all journeys that are affected by increasing congestion along the route. The service will still run up to every 15 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes and hourly evenings and Sundays between Middlesbrough and Guisborough, however Service 5A will no longer serve Skelton and will terminate at Guisborough Market Place instead. Service 5 is relatively unchanged between Guisborough and Easington, with minor alterations to the timetable, but Monday to Saturday daytime journeys will additionally serve Hollybush Estate in Skelton. Service 5A will be routed locally in Guisborough via Hutton Lane and Rectory Lane, providing new and improved links between Middlesbrough and Guisborough for residents along the revised route and opening up more options for shopping on the increasing retail section of Rectory Lane. Furthermore, Arriva North East are also re-introducing Service X5, which will operate Monday to Friday mornings (from Easington) and afternoons (from Middlesbrough), catering for passengers who travel from East Cleveland into Middlesbrough. This service will serve all stops between Easington and Skelton but will then run non-stop to Middlesbrough Bus Station.

Service 8: A revised timetable will be in operation following analysis of real-time punctuality data. There is no planned change to the route and buses will continue to operate up to every 8 minutes during the day. Evenings and Sundays are slightly revised to allow an improved co-ordination of services that operate around East Middlesbrough at these times.

Service 9: A revised timetable will be in operation following analysis of real-time punctuality data. There is no planned change to the route and buses will continue to operate up to every 8 minutes.

Service 15: There will be a small revision to the timetable on Monday to Friday mornings, however route and frequency of service will remain unchanged.

Service 17/17A/X17: A revised timetable will be in operation. Service X17 journeys will be slightly retimed in both directions, allowing for a much improved 7/8-minute frequency of buses between Middlesbrough & Thornaby at peak time. Evening timetables will also be revised to operate slightly earlier owing to a connecting service revision. There is no planned change to the routes and buses will continue to operate up to every 15 minutes across the main part of the day.

Service X22: An additional journey between North Tees Hospital and Middlesbrough is introduced on a Monday to Friday, following passenger requests for an earlier arrival into Middlesbrough from north-west Stockton. The journey will commence at North Tees Hospital (06:39) via Stockton High St (06:51) arriving into Middlesbrough Bus Station (07:05). There are no other changes to the service route or timetable.

Service 28/28A: A revised route and timetable will be in operation following a review. All service 28/28A journeys will operate via Easterside and Marton Manor, following the revision to related service 29. Due to low usage, the 17:53 Service 28A journey from Stokesley to Middlesbrough will be withdrawn and replaced in part by a revised service 29 journey between Marton and Middlesbrough. There is no change to routes in Guisborough and Lingdale or Great Ayton and Stokesley. Most journeys will co-ordinate with Service 29 at Marton and Easterside, offering a combined up to every 15 minutes service to/from Middlesbrough.

Service 29: A revised route and timetable will be in operation following a review of passenger usage and service punctuality. Service 29A is withdrawn, however service 29 is revised to operate via Saltersgill, maintaining the up to every 30 minutes link to Middlesbrough. There is no change to route between Marton and James Cook Hospital and most journeys will co-ordinate with service 28/28A at Marton and Easterside, offering a combined up to every 15 minutes service to/from Middlesbrough.

Service X66/X67: A revised timetable will be in operation following a review of service punctuality. There will be amendments to peak time journeys, both into and out of Darlington and Middlesbrough. In addition, due to low passenger usage, the 21:25 Service X66 from Darlington to Stockton on a Monday to Saturday evening and the 08:24 Service X67 from Stockton to Darlington on a Saturday morning are withdrawn.
