Ryanair Launch Frequent Flyer Programme & Price Promise

Ryanair has today announced their version of a frequent flyer programme and price promise.

The lowcost airline has started selling annual paid for subscription services called "Ryanair Choice".

The new scheme will give customers assigned standard seats, fast track security (where available), priority boarding and 10kg of checked in baggage on every flight, simply by booking the lowest standard fare. The fee for the annual service is 199 or 175, and offers similar benefits to Ryanair Plus.

The Independent newspaper figures show that profits will begin to benefit the passenger after seven flights on the airline in a year, compared with paying for the extras for each flight.

In Ryanair style they are keeping it low cost and ditching the usual frequent flyer benefits like lounge access, airmiles to spend on flights and upgrades, free onboard services and a plastic card, but you will pay for the service.

In addition to this Ryanair has launched a price promise, to "guarantee" they offer the lowest fares and if you find another airline with a cheaper fare they will refund the difference and give you £5 into your MyRyanair account, so your then able to use this towards a future flight. But with Ryanair routes going to out of the way airports, the likelyhood of this being a lot of benefit is still to be seen.
