Go North East Changes From Today
Today, Go North East have changed many routes to improve journeys and reduce delays, with some new routes and journeys whilst others are withdrawn. The changes are...
Coaster 1 & 1A: Some journeys on this service will be extended to Metrocentre, running between Gateshead and Metrocentre via Lobley Hill, Malvern Gardens and Knightside Gardens to replace service 11. These journeys will be numbered 1A. On a Sunday, some journeys will run via Cragside Gardens instead of Malvern Gardens, to replace service 11A. These will be numbered 1B. Service 1A will no longer run to Kibblesworth – evening and Sunday journeys will be replaced by service 28B (see below). As a consequence, there will be some changes to the timetable of this service.
Connections 4: There will be minor adjustments to the timetable of this service.
Coast & Country 8: This service will additionally run via Castletown, following the route of service 36 via Ringway, Ethel Terrace and Castle View. It will no longer serve the western section of Sunderland Enterprise Park. As a consequence, there will be some changes to the timetable of this service.
Blue Arrow 11 & 11A: The section of route between Metrocentre, Lobley Hill, Gateshead and Newcastle will be replaced by new service 1A, as described above. The remainder of the service will run between Whitley Bay and Wallsend only, due to lower passenger numbers on the section of route through Walkergate. Monday to Saturday daytime journeys will continue to serve Wallsend Forum, with evening and Sunday journeys running to Wallsend Metro. As a consequence, there will be some minor changes to the timetable of this service.
Services 13 & 14: There will be minor adjustments to the timetable of this service.
Service 18: This service will be replaced between Bishop Auckland and Woodhouse Estate by revised service X21 (see below), offering a direct bus to Newcastle from a much larger area of Bishop Auckland, as well as offering new connections to Tindale Crescent. Unfortunately this service will no longer run between Bishop Auckland and Coundon.
Services 20, 20A & X20: To offer more fast and direct journeys between Sunderland, Houghton-le-Spring and Durham, service X20 will be increased to run up to every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes. Most journeys on service X20 will commence from the Winter Gardens, picking up on Holmeside before entering Park Lane Interchange towards Durham. As the improved service X20 will provide connections to and from Rainton Bridge, service 20A will no longer run, with all journeys between South Shields, Sunderland and Durham running as service 20 via Hall Lane Estate. Service 20 will run every 12 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes. The frequency on evenings and Sundays is unchanged. There will also be some changes to the stands these services depart from in bus stations: In Durham Bus Station, service X20 will depart from Stand A and service 20 will depart from Stand B. In Park Lane Interchange service X20 will depart from Stand M, service 20 towards Durham will depart from Stand L and service 20 towards South Shields is unchanged.
Angel 21: Go North East will be running more journeys between Newcastle, Gateshead, Low Fell, Birtley and Chester-le-Street on Friday and Saturday evenings. There will also be additional journeys offered early on a Sunday morning to offer more travel opportunities at these times. In Newcastle City Centre, the service will no longer set down on Blackett Street, but will additionally stop on St Mary's Place, offering improved access to the northern part of Newcastle City Centre. In Durham Bus Station, the service will now depart from stand L. There will be other minor adjustments to the timetable of this service
Crusader 27: The final journey of the day at 23:43 from Newcastle will no longer run due to low passenger numbers. The journey which currently departs Newcastle at 23:13 is retimed to depart at 23:23 and runs 10 minutes later throughout.
Services 28, 28A & 28B: Evening journeys on service 28B will now continue to and commence from Newcastle, running via Low Fell and Kibblesworth. This replaces current service 1A between Newcastle and Kibblesworth, and offers new, direct connections on an evening from Newcastle and Gateshead to Ouston, Pelton and other areas along the route of service 28B. A new Sunday service 28B will also be introduced, running between Newcastle, Low Fell and Kibblesworth. In Newcastle City Centre, the service will no longer run via Blackett Street, instead running via and stopping at St Mary’s Place. As a consequence, there will be some changes to the timetable of this service.
Services 33 & 33A: There will be a revised timetable for this service.
Services 35 & 35A: There will be a revised timetable for this service, with most Monday to Saturday daytime journeys now running additionally via Rainton Bridge. At Park Lane Interchange, the service towards Low Moorsley will now depart from stand M.
Services 36: This service was introduced a number of years ago to offer new connections between different communities in Sunderland. However, passenger numbers are too low for this service to continue in its current form, but most connections provided by this service will still be possible on other services. Service 8 will be diverted via Castletown, replacing service 36 on this section of route and maintaining four buses per hour between Castletown and Sunderland with service 35. Most journeys on service X5 will be diverted via Silksworth (see below). This maintains the frequency of service between Silksworth and Sunderland with service 33. This diversion also means the connections between Silksworth and Houghton-le-Spring are maintained. Between Chester-le-Street, Houghton-le-Spring and Burnside Estate, new service 71 will run (see below).
Services 50 & 50A: This service will now depart from stand L in Durham Bus Station. There will be minor changes to the times of evening journeys on service 50A.
Fab 56: This service will no longer serve New Bridge Street in Newcastle – instead stopping on Market Street West, outside of the Co-op. It will now additionally set down on the Tyne Bridge slip road, near to Cale Cross House. To offer better travel opportunities, there will be an extra journey added on Sunday mornings. This service will now depart from stand T in Park Lane Interchange. These changes mean that there will be some changes to the timetable of this service.
CityLink 57: There will be minor adjustments to the timetable of this service
CityLink 58: There will be minor adjustments to the timetable of this service.
Service 64: The timetable of this service will be revised.
Service 71: This is a new service to replace service 36 between Chester-le-Street and Houghton-le-Spring. It will run the same route as service 36 between Chester-le-Street and Fence Houses Rail Crossing, then continue on Station Avenue, omitting Avenue Vivian. From here it will run via Sedgeletch Road and Burnside Estate into Houghton-le-Spring, instead of running via Dairy Lane.
Coast & Country 78 & 78A: There will be minor adjustments to the timetable of this service.
indiGo 85 & 86: Additional journey on a Saturday morning.
Service 95: The timetable of this service will be revised.
indiGo 202: This service will now depart from stand E in Peterlee Bus Station towards Seaham. There are no changes to the timetable.
Services 237 & 238: Service 238 will revert to running between Sunderland and Houghton-le-Spring only, running direct via Seaham Road, omitting Hall Lane Estate. The service between Hall Lane Estate and Barnwell will be replaced by Nexus service 79. Evening and Sunday journeys on service 237 will be slightly retimed, and renumbered 79A.
Quaylink Q3: This service will now depart from stand R in Haymarket Bus Station towards Great Park. There are no changes to the timetable.
Service X5: Most journeys will run via Silksworth and Silksworth Lane instead of East Herrington and Durham Road. These journeys will be renumbered 55. Some peak time journeys will continue to run via East Herrington and Durham Road – these journeys will be renumbered 55X. The peak time journeys which run via Horden as service X5A will also continue to run via East Herrington and Durham Road – these journeys will be renumbered 55A. There will be an extra journey towards Sunderland at 21:23 from Easington Lane. At Park Lane Interchange, this service will now depart from stand N.
Services X6 & X7: These services will now run between Sunderland and Peterlee only. Service X7 will additionally run via Dalton Park, meaning there will now be a half hourly express service between Sunderland, Seaham, Dalton Park and Peterlee. In Sunderland, the service will still set down at Winter Gardens and on Holmeside, but passengers will only be able to board the service at Park Lane Interchange.
Castles Express X21; Monday to Saturday daytime journeys are extended to Tindale Crescent via Woodhouse Estate. This offers direct journeys to Newcastle and Gateshead from a larger area of Bishop Auckland. The route in Woodhouse Estate towards Tindale Crescent will be via Proudfoot Drive, Walker Drive, Weardale Drive and Greenfields Road. From Tindale Crescent, services will run direct along Maude Terrace to Proudfoot Drive, onto Walker Drive, and then follow the route of the old service 18 around Woodhouse Estate to Bishop Auckland. In Newcastle City Centre, the service will now additionally set down at St Mary’s Place, offering improved access to the northern part of Newcastle City Centre. Towards Newcastle, now runs from stand L in Durham Bus Station. The stand towards Bishop Auckland is unchanged.
Service X22: Sunday journeys are retimed 3 minutes earlier.
Service X25: This service will be renumbered 25, though there will be no changes to the stopping arrangements, continuing to offer a fast, limited stop journey along Old Durham Road. In Newcastle City Centre, the service will no longer run via Blackett Street, instead running via and stopping at St Mary’s Place. There will be minor changes to the timetable on an evening.
Service X66: There will be minor changes to times on a Saturday.
