Travel Restrictions To Be Eased On Public Transport

Restrictions on using public transport are reportedly set to be eased as the Government urges people to return to work rather than stay at home and help boost the countires dwindling economy.

Current coronavirus guidance for England states that people should consider “all other forms of transport” before using trains, tubes, buses and light rail services like trams. But its been reported that the Government are in talks with public transport operators, after a backlash from some about the current guideance, to re-phrase their message and encourage people to get back to work & use public transport instead of working from home.

Operators across the North East have worked extremely hard to ensure their services are clean & safe, with increased cleaning of vehicles, especially the main touchpoints like buttons & grab poles. Most have introduced "fogging" using hospital grade technology and chemicals, they have regular cleaning at the start/end of each journey and at main stops along the way with staff popping on-board buses and the Metro to clean as you go and regular patrols for cleaning on trains throughout the long journey. Social distancing measures are in place and most passengers are thankfully following the rules about this and the wearing of face coverings.

Transport operators have lost millions of pounds in revenue due to the massive downturn in passenger numbers since the Covid-19 outbreak, with extremely reduced services and some companies seeing as much as 90% in the reduction of passengers.

Soon we could hopefully be able to travel for leisure, as much as we like, whilst remaining safe.
