Major Closure Of London Kings Cross
As work progresses at London Kings Cross station the next stage of closures will happen this weekend; 5th & 6th September 2020.
The works are part of a £1.2 Billion East Coast Upgrade programme by Network Rail. The multi-million pound investment is set to provide a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve the infrastructure at King’s Cross station, which will see a-mile-and-a-half of track, signalling and overhead line equipment re-thought, re-planned and re-laid.
At the same time, the project will create two new lines by re-opening a disused tunnel on the approach to King’s Cross; increasing the approach to the station from four tracks to six. This will allow more trains to run to/from the station which will increase capacity and also make it easier for the train timetables to recover in times of disruption.
You can find out more about the programme by clicking here.
During this weekend, 5th & 6th September 2020, no trains will run to/from London Kings Cross and passengers are advised NOT to travel if possible. Grand Central will not be running ANY services on these dates, whilst LNER will run to/from Peterborough with a limited timetable; there are some alternatives available via Peterborough to London St Pancras but they are expected to be EXTREMELY busy and you may not be able to board if social distancing is not possible.
