Major Line Closure To/From Kings Cross

Plans to increase capacity at Kings Cross station will be kicked up a notch on the weekend of 5th & 6th September 2020 when the station will be closed.

The closure is an important part of the works which will untangle the tracks at the station and allow more than 25% more trains everyday.

Network Rail are renewing the track, overhead wires and signalling on the approach to the station; and the track is being re-laid in a new layout, with a disused tunnel being reopened, allowing for six tracks into the station instead of the current four.

Grand Central: There will be no Grand Central train service.

LNER: An amended timetable will operate. Customers are advised not to travel to / from London Kings Cross. LNER services will run to / from Peterborough / St Neots instead of London Kings Cross. Alternative trains to / from London are expected to be busy. Customers can change at Peterborough for Great Northern / Thameslink services to / from London St Pancras International / Finsbury Park.

Other operators, Hull Trains, Great Northern & Thameslink to/from Kings Cross are also affected and you should check those if you connect onto Thameslink, Great Northern or Hull Trains by clicking here.
